Happy New Year everyone! To kick our year off, I have this absolutely adorable swap card from Dana Hancock, a fellow demonstrator.
This stamp set has been on my buy list forever and this card might have just convinced me to cave and get it. Beyond the cuteness of the stamp set, I love the overall energy of this card; so clean yet interesting and fun.
I think my favourite design aspect of this card is the different shades of the same green throughout the entire card. Dana chose such a stunning pastel green to keep carry from the patterned cardstock to the layered leaves and the fun little tufts of grass. This green is so calming and easy on the eyes, making the card enjoyable to look at. Furthermore, the different shades add visual depth and interest to the card, contributing to the sophisticated look.
I also love how Dana used a solid grey backdrop to contrast all the different patterns and textures and to ground the entire card. This ensures it isn’t too overwhelming or chaotic. Finally, a few small details that really tie the whole look together include matching the pink in the elephant ears to the little pink gem in the corner, using dies with little perforation details in addition to the scalloped edge. All these little things add another level of intricacy and elevate the whole look.
