Project Overview

  • Skill Level: All Levels
  • Estimated Time: Approx. 45 Minutes class time for 2 cards

Instructions:

Step 1: Your card kit should contain: 2 pieces of Pool Party 10-¾” x 5-½” cardstock, scored at 1-5/8”, 3-1/4”, 7-1/2”, and 9-1/8”, 2 pieces of Petal Pink 3-1/4” x 4-1/2” cardstock, 2 pieces of 2-1/4” x 4-1/4" polka dot (Ordinary Beautiful Life) paper, 2 pieces of 2-3/4” x 4-3/4” striped (Ordinary Beautiful Life) paper, 2 pieces of 3” x 5” Basic White Cardstock, 2 pieces of 2-1/2” x 4-1/2” Basic White Cardstock, 2 pieces of 3” x 4-1/3” Basic White Cardstock, and 2 pieces of scrap Basic White Cardstock (smallest pieces). Divide everything so that you have two equal kits to make two cards with.

Step 2: First, take your smallest piece from each card kit and use the Momento black ink to stamp this piece with the three butterflies from the All Aflutter stampset. Set aside to dry for now.
Step 3: Now, with your 4-1/4” x 3” Basic White Cardstock pieces lying vertically on the table, stamp four tiny butterflies on the top of each one using the Daffodil Delight Ink and the All Aflutter stampset. Next, stamp the words “fluttering by to say hi” overtop of your butterflies, using the Momento black ink. Put these aside to dry for now.
Step 4: Next, lie your Pool Party (green) card base horizontally in front of you, and opened up. Attach the right hand side of your 2-1/2” x 4-1/2” piece of Basic White Cardstock to the outermost panel of your card base so the ½ of the white piece is overhanging the scored edge. Now, centre your polka dot (Ordinary Beautiful Life) on the white piece you just attached.

Step 5: Now, on the left side of your card base, take your 3” x 5” piece of Basic White Cardstock, and like you did on the right side, attach this piece to the left hand panel so only the left side of the white card is attached and a little more of the right side hangs over (line up the right edge of this card with the second score). You can now take your striped (Ordinary Beautiful Life) piece and centre it on the white card you just attached. Your stamped pieces should now be dry enough to work with.

Step 6: Take the Petal Pink piece and attach it to the middle (largest) section of the card so that it is framed equally around by the green base. Next take the white card with your message stamped on it, and attach it, centred, onto the Petal Pink card.

Step 7: Now, take the paper with your stamped butterflies, put it into the butterfly punch so the butterflies are lined up the punch shapes underneath, and punch them out. You can now arrange them on your polkadot paper and attach them, them using the watercolor pencils, color in the wing cells using the colors provided. Add three of the Rhinestone Basic Jewels to the polkadot paper surrounding your butterflies. Now the innermost score inward, and the outermost scores outward, so the polkadot paper panel overlies the striped paper panel.

Pro Tip: Lay out all of your pieces ahead of time (See the list, Step 1, of what your kit should include). Use a bone folder to fold your main card flat where it is scored.
